Rudsak Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

When I ran across shots of this runway show from the Toronto Fashion Week I knew this was spot-on. Rudsak's spring/summer collection for 2010 could not be better. I think they hit some of next year's trends on the head. Bright daring colors, but paired with simple statements. Great fits and great textures. What really stood out to me was the perfect design of the outwear. Perfection. It just plain worked. Sure, it might be a bit intense for the everyday guy, but the basic thought is spot-on. Rudsak is definitely worth a second look.

Carpenter Jeans - Fashion Faux Pas

You must never wear carpenter jeans. If you have some - throw them away. Burn them. You can (and must) do without them.

Usually I talk about fashions that work. The newest trends or latest sales. Every once in awhile it is important to talk about fashions that don't work. Today we must address the carpenter jean. Carpenter jeans were popular in the late 90's. I was never quite sure why. I don't personally know many carpenters or anyone who really has a need for a jean that can handle that job. In many ways I blame Old Navy for this horrible fashion choice. I can still remember those ads promoting carpenter jeans for men. They didn't work then, and they most certainly do not work now.

If you own a pair - don't stress too much. Yes, you've made some serious mistakes in the past, but you can change. Get as far away from that pair of jeans and find the light of slim-fitting jeans. You'll be glad you did.

Jake Gyllenhaal Hairstyles

Jake Gyllenhaal is well-known for his signature hair, which seems to always look good. A good hairstyle is key for any fashionable man. It is the icing on the cake and tells a lot about your personality.

Gyllenhaal is a great example of a classic American hairstyle. He usually sports a rather conservative hairstyle that is short on the sides and a bit longer on top. It's been a classic for years and still works today. He's also sported the buzz cut and a less conservative spiked look.

Whatever hairstyle he has he makes it work. Remember when deciding on a hairstyle to go with something that suits your hair. Play to its strengths and you are sure to look great. Men's Fashion Store Review: Tobi

The other day I ran across a new favorite online retailer: Tobi. Tobi offers men's and women's designer clothes at reasonable prices. There are a few things that set this retailer apart from most others. Tobi's slogan is 1 to 1 shopping. There are stylists waiting to answer individual questions. They really do seem to care about providing a good experience - and not just a place to buy nice clothes. When you talk to a stylist you have to option to talk to the same one each time. Ask about sizes, fits, and all those things that don't quite come through over the Internet. Talk over the phone, chat, or e-mail. Whatever works best.

Another thing I love about Tobi is free shipping. Every order is shipped free - there are no purchase minimums. This is great. Often shopping online can be a pain because of the extra shipping charges - but not here.

Tobi's selection of designer clothes is pretty amazing. Often some retailers - like Bluefly - can price low because they offer pieces that didn't sell well in the first place. Most of the time these designer items are sub-par. Tobi offers the newest clothing. Evey time I visit the website I am amazed at the selection. Tobi, which is still relatively unknown, is definitely worth checking out.

A few months ago we featured the slim Zach Jean from Express. These have proved to be extremely popular and have practically sold-out online. We've received a number of messages about this. Well we've found some slim denim that may just be even better than the offering from Express. It's the 484 denim line for men by JCrew.

Slim denim is in this year. Skinny guys everywhere are rejoicing. This is a trend that is not going to go away quickly. I think it is here to stay for awhile. JCrew's 484 denim line is great. Men's Fashion Trend: Double Breasted Suits

This fall double breasted suits are beginning to make a real comeback on the runways of men's fashion weeks. I don't like it one bit. While many designers are embracing an updated double-breasted suit, I'm not buying it. Call me crazy but I think this look should be left behind. Trends come and go. Some, like the skinny jean, are great and will stay for years, others - like double breasted suits - are sure to quickly fade. We can only hope.

Double breasted suits are a major fashion faux pas for a number of reasons. They fit oddly, inspire the 80's for all the wrong reasons, and plain just do not look good. Even the on pictured on the left doesn't quite work - and it is the best I have found yet. So before you think of doing anything crazy (like buying a double-breasted suit) think again. Sure, some may say it's the new essential item of fall 2009, but don't believe them. Trust me on this one.

You're sure to see a few of them in the stores, but you'll be regretting your purchase soon after you make it. Stay away from the double breasted suit.

Men's Fleece Hoodies

Men's hoodies are always in ... no matter the year or the season. In the winter you want to make sure your favorite hoodie will keep you warm and in the summer you want your hoodie to be lightweight.

One of my favorite clothing companies for men of late is Alternative Apparel. They offer some great basic pieces that fit perfect, are made from great fabric, and just work. This fall be sure to check out Alternative Apparel's eco-friendly men's fleece hoodie. They come in a number of colors but salmon, light green, and light blue are my favorite. Why? These colors are extremely popular this year. We've seen a lot of neon in the west coast surfer style lately and this is great play off that trend. I personally have not compeletly bought into the bold neon colors, but these muted pastels are perfect. The salmon hoodie is my favorite and I can't seem to keep my hands off. I'll be buying one and perhaps two of this great hoodie.

Since they are made from fleece, these hoodies will keep you warm. Plus, they are stylish enough that you could wear jeans, a white tee, and layer the hoodie over top. This is perfect for going to college classes and the library, running errands, or simply living in some casual fashion that is comfortable.

Still not convinced? Don't get me wrong - you should wear pink everday - but you are missing out if you don't throw it into the mix every once in a while. If your not very brave do not worry. Lighter pinks are easier to pull off and are not as intimidating as a vibrant hot pink. A light pink is simple. It adds just the right amount of color to a simple outfit.

Mens Slim Suit

Lately I've been looking for the perfect mens slim suit. I have found it. Seriously. Naked and Famous have an absolutely perfect slim suit for men. It is a little extreme, but just enough to make a statement. Now this is not for the boardroom, but for the event in which you are trying to stick out a bit.

Naked and Famous is known for great slim-fitting denim. This year they also have introduced the "Skinny Suit." It's made to fit perfect from top to botton and it does. The fabric is 65% cotton and 35% polyester with a Gabardine weave. The skinny suit comes in grey and black.

Now let me preface this with a warning. If you are just begining to dabble in fashion - this probably isn't for you. If you are a bit brave - this is perfect. Enough said.

Store Review: G by Guess

Today we are taking a look at Guess brand's concept store: G by Guess. This new store, which has actually been around since 2007, has started expanding throughout the country. So what makes G by Guess any different than the normal Guess stores?

G by Guess is targeted to a slightly younger demographic than Guess stores. Prices are usually cheaper, and the fashion's are often a bit more innovative. I have actually been quite surprised by the store. The atmosphere of the actual retail locations are young and hip. The concept of the store is that of a swanky nightclub.

What are the clothes like? Well, the fashions don't trend too far away from the traditional Guess style that is so familiar. There are differences however. I like G by Guess a little better than its' older brother. Sometimes I feel Guess markets the "tool" look a bit too heavily, whereas the new brand is a bit more classy. There are still graphics thrown across almost every piece, but it is toned down just a bit.

The online store is easy to navigate and has some good additional features. The prices are reasonable compared to the main brand. Definitely worth peeking around. What do you all think?

Celebrity Looks: Ryan Reynolds Fashion

Ryan Reynold's star has been rising lately. He is even becoming a men's fashion icon. Today we are going to break down this simple look.

The simple men's henley has been popular for a number of years. It is perfect for the begining of fall. It can be layered with other looks or stand on its' own. It throws a bit of a spin on the typical long sleeve shirt. This particular henley, by Alternative Apparel, is innovative and has a designer flair, but does not have the designer price tag. Men's Slim Khakis

Lately I have been looking for a slim fit khaki pant to dress up parts of my wardrobe a bit. Khaki's are notorious for being baggy and ill-fitting. Not acceptable. In my search for the perfect khaki I found surprisingly few options. In the end I ran across a slim-fitting twill pant from Martin + Osa that outperforms even a perfectly fitting men's khaki pant.

The men's vintage slim twill pant from Martin + Osa is perfect. It is dressier than a jean but is still casual enough to pair it with almost any top. Unlike the traditional khaki, it fits and looks great. It doesn't scream 90's like most khaki pants on the market. It is durable and even comes in two colors. It is perfect.

The heavier material makes for a great denim-like fit. It also adds a bit of warmth, which is perfect for the winter months. Plus the cotton/twill blend gives it a bit of texture. This helps the pant stand out a bit - but not too much. What can I say ... this is a great piece. Fall and winter call for a bit more style when it comes to men's fashion. The summer days of shorts and t-shirt are over. It's going to get cold and we're going to have to endure it. Might as well do it in style. These slim fit khaki-esqe twill pants will do the trick

Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth every penny. I'm planning on buying atleast a pair. The pant comes in two colors - Deep Khaki or a richer chocolate brown. Here is a bit of advice to remember: the darker the pant, the dressier the look. Pair it with a sweater, a sweater vest, a button-up shirt, some great outwear, or even a simple t-shirt. This slim fit twill pant will make any man look great.
