Geek Chic - Etro Men's Spring 2010 Collection

Geek Chic is at its' best in Etro's Men's Spring 2010 Collection. Geek chic appears in men's fashion from time to time. It is a blend of classic "geeky" looks and high fashion. These stereotypical looks - like the bow tie or glasses- are updated and become fresh, trendy, and current. We love the look. Now granted it is not something that you can wear everyday, or even exactly as shown in Etro's collection, but there are elements of the look that one can easily apply to their wardrobe.

The latter half of the Spring collection (not shown) has a decidedly more casual feel. With vibrant florals and flowing colors, it looks as though it came straight from a day at the beach, albeit a fashionable beach. So embrace your inner geek and check out the rest of Etro's Spring 2010 collection. You may even find a few ideas to incorporate in your wardrobe.

Banana Republic Weekday Sale

Banana Republic is having a pretty big weekday sale this week. Many items are already on sale 40%. For the next four days take off an additional 10% ... not bad. They've got some great stuff this year. I'm going stock up on some basic tees for myself. The seasons are changing quick and fall is on its' way. Spurr Spring 2010 Collection

We love the Simon Spurr's 2010 Men's Collection. It is sophisticated and yet understated. He is our favorite designer yet of Spring 2010. Simon Spurr has had a busy career and yet he is only 35. He has worked with the likes of Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and already has his own line. He works by the idea that a man's style is more important than being fashionable. He also says to pick just one piece that sticks out in an outfit - more than one is distracting and makes it look like you are trying to hard.

The Spurr spring 2010 collection features stunning pastel colors, and perfect tailoring. No matter how great a piece of clothing is - it must fit. He also throws in a perfect three piece suit. This is a huge trend that we don't see an end to. Also, I love the tux-style shirt. Usually I can't stand the tux shirts, but this one has just the right amount of styling to work.

Tommy Hilfiger Men's Spring 2010 Collection

Tommy Hilfiger's Men's Spring 2010 collection is innovative, yet classic. This year we see striking colors used on neutral base pallets. Even the more neutral colors have a sense of warmth and energy to them. The browns are creamy, the whites pop, and the bright colors contrast but are calculated to mix just right. Although spring is still a full two seasons away - things look good. Some years I'm not impressed with Hilfiger's men's line, but I am this year. By spring we'll be well on our way out of the recession and things will be looking better hopefully. Men can always stand to add some color to their wardrobes. The idea I gather from this designer's clothes is to choose one piece of vibrant color and pair it with more neutral tones. We want color - but responsible color. Even if you can't afford designer clothing, the new season's lines give practical principles to live by. Here are four examples from Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2010 show.

Men's Fashion: David Archuleta

A few weeks ago David Archuleta was voted the most fashionable male American Idol by readers of Men's Fashion Deals (and some very loyal fans). Today we are featuring David in a celebrity look feature. His look at the recent ALMA awards was spot on. Archuleta pulled of a great slim fitting suit with a bit of shine, layered it with a grey v-neck sweater, and a super skinny black tie. This is a great look. Men's skinny ties are all the rage right now as they should be. David pulls it off nicely. The hint of shine in the suit is great as well. It takes the classic slim-fitting suit and adds a little pop and edge to the look. Want this look for less than he probably spent on it? We're not trying to favor Express products, but if you are looking for a cheap, slim-fitting dress shirt there is no better choice than the 1MX shirt from express. There is almost always a deal going on and you can often find the shirts for less than $30 when buying in bulk during sales.

This great sweater is wonderful. The texture, the fit, and the cut is just perfect. The extra layer adds a little pop to the outfit and makes it red carpet worthy. Just like many of the other pieces of the look, this v-neck sweater could be worn dressed up or down.

Express M2K Shirt

The Express M2K shirt is one of the best new fashion mainstays of the year. The shirt fits great and continues with the military styling that has been so popular this year. The shirt is made of stretch cotton and looks great. It is slim fitting as with other Express shirts. A great young athletic fit which can be a challenge to find sometimes. Did I mention it is available in 13 colors?

The Express M2K shirt is a cousin of the extremely popular Express 1MX shirt - a more traditional dress shirt. This means it is an extremely versatile wear. Pair it with jeans, chinos, or dress pants. This would look great with new photographer pant from Express - one of my favorite dress pants this season. You can even pair it up with a skinny tie and dark jeans for a trendy metro look. What can we say? We love the M2k shirt. It's wearable in so many different situations, looks great, and fits great. Find it at Express for $59.50. Our advice is to wait for a promotion to buy it. Often they are available on sale. Or pick one up when Express offers a 30 dollars off a $75 purchase.

William Rast Spring 2010

Justin Timberlake has turned into a connoisseur of fashion over the past few years. His men's designer collection, known as William Rast, has started turning a few heads in the fashion world. This isn't your typical celebrity line catered to the general market, but rather a more refined line designed for the fashion conscious man. The fashion line has a casual feel to it, but with a strong sense of designer style mixed in. William Rast denim has been quick to catch on and accounts for most of the line's revenue. I found some of the lightweight jackets were standouts in the upcoming Spring 2010 collection. The line is intriguing, but still has a ways to go. One thing is for sure - William Rast is quickly becoming a well known brand in the world of men's fashion.

Banana Republic Half-Zip Sweater

I don't know if you all have been feeling it lately, but fall is coming quickly. I have to admit that I am not very excited at the prospect. I love warm weather and don't love long winters, but change is in the air. One great thing that fall brings is a variety of fashion options. Sweaters, coats, jackets, shirts, etc. Fall is the season of fashion in my book.

Earlier this week I ran across a great looking half-zip sweater from Banana Republic. The sweater adds a few new elements that work perfectly. It is simple and elegant and provides enough of a twist on the typical half zip sweater to provide something uniquely original. It is made of fine merino wool and comes in six different colors. Perfect for a cool fall day with just a hint of cool in the air. We may be reluctantly letting summer go, but at least we've got things to look forward to. At 90 dollars the sweater is a bit steep, but worth it for any man who is looking for an ultra-comfortable, fashionable sweater that beams with trend and originality.

It's official! David Archuleta was voted the most fashionable American Idol after an intense round of voting. His fans definitely should not be underestimated! He has a loyal following. David Archuleta stood out from the rest because of his simple, understated style.

I have fallen in love with the new Photographer Pant from Express. A new addition to the family of dress pants at Express, The Photographer Pant picks up where the producer pant left off.
